I've been thinking . . .

I sometimes think about my grandmother and all she witnessed during her life. She was born in the late 1890's. She saw the emergence of cars, airplanes, not to mention living through both WW's, the depression. She lived to be 94.

During my life I've witnessed the Civil Rights Movement, the Women's movement, Vietnam and the resulting protests, the Flower Children of San Francisco, the fall of Apartheid in South Africa, the rise of the best Rock 'n Roll band of all time (Beatles) and the second (Stones), not to mention Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin. I've particularly enjoyed the music part of all of this. Music has expanded so much during my life.

The advances in medicine has allowed me to life much longer than I would have in an earlier time.

I never thought I travel on an airplane, my mother never did. I never thought I see anything outside Ohio, Kentucky, West Virginia, Virginia, or Michigan. My mother never did.

It's been fun! In three weeks I'll be on another airplane flying far away (Vegas). I'm anxious.

This cold front has me feeling hemmed in again.

What a very insightful post. I think it's good to think about these things. We take too much for granted if we don't.

Yay for your trip coming soon!

You know, I don't think my generation has seen nearly as much as previous ones, in a historical sense. I'll have to think on this a bit.

The changes to our world and way of life that occurred from the beginning to the and of the 20th century are simply mind boggling. My mom lived through most of them, and died in 1999. Reading your post made me think of her and all she saw.

Do you remember transistor radios? When kids finally got to control their own music? I had a little yellow one, and it was so cool...
