Free Day

I'm at home today. Just because.

I've been busy both at work and at home. I'm in the process of moving back to my house and it's taking so long since I'm doing it myself. At work I was filling in for a co-worker who was on vacation in Costa Rica.

Not much else happening here.

Vegas next week.

Yea

My tulips are standing tall right now. Maybe the freezing weather didn't kill them!

I've been thinking . . .

I sometimes think about my grandmother and all she witnessed during her life. She was born in the late 1890's. She saw the emergence of cars, airplanes, not to mention living through both WW's, the depression. She lived to be 94.

During my life I've witnessed the Civil Rights Movement, the Women's movement, Vietnam and the resulting protests, the Flower Children of San Francisco, the fall of Apartheid in South Africa, the rise of the best Rock 'n Roll band of all time (Beatles) and the second (Stones), not to mention Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin. I've particularly enjoyed the music part of all of this. Music has expanded so much during my life.

The advances in medicine has allowed me to life much longer than I would have in an earlier time.

I never thought I travel on an airplane, my mother never did. I never thought I see anything outside Ohio, Kentucky, West Virginia, Virginia, or Michigan. My mother never did.

It's been fun! In three weeks I'll be on another airplane flying far away (Vegas). I'm anxious.

This cold front has me feeling hemmed in again.

Droopy

I went outside Dbf's house to go to work today. I glanced at my spring flowers. They are ALL droopy. My Bleeding Heart is droopy. My tulips (the huge peony flowering ones) are droopy. Even my daffodils are droopy.

Augie, how is your spring garden?

And my "low fuel" light came on on the way to work.

It's 30 degrees here today - and it was 80 two days ago.

*sigh*

Hose?!?!?!

On the way into work today I looked down on my pasty white legs and wondered:

1. Why do we call those things that are worn on our legs hose? A hose waters the garden and cleans the car. It took me a moment to think of another word for this uncomfortable accessory - stockings. So is it hose or stockings (or something else) to you?

2. Do any of you even still wear hose?

3. Do any of you remember hose before panty hose? The garter thingy. And I've seen in magazines that the garter made a comeback. Why? Other than panty liner menstrual pads, panty hose was the best invention. Why would one want to sit on a garter strap all day?

- - - - How can it be 80 in Ohio today but snow flurries are forcasted for Wednesday (tomorrow)?
